For salmonella,

XLD--- Pink colonies with or without black centers. Many cultures of Salmonella may produce colonies with large, glossy black centers or may appear as almost completely black colonies.

BS agar-- black colonies; sometimes they have a metallic sheen. Surrounding medium is usually brown at first, but may turn black in time with increased incubation, producing the so-called halo effect.

HE agar--- Blue-green to blue colonies with or without black centers. Many cultures of Salmonella may produce colonies with large, glossy black centers or may appear as almost completely black colonies.



ok.. i have did some streaking in the TSI, LIA agar slant and stabbing of butt on the agar slant for the salmonella.. lols.. To test for vibrio cholerae, a loop of the surface pellicle of APW culture and transferred to the TCBS agar for streaking. I have done streaking using the suspected culture on the Arginine glucose slant (AGS) and stabbing the butt. And the salt test as well as the oxidase test for the Vibrio.

Sound chim? lols. the pathogen lab involved more on the streaking of plate, using of PCR, ABex, etc... lols.. I also helpout in the first lab.. cause chee meng was on mc tdy.. lols..

lots of stuff to do tdy.. haha.. tired.. but today is also the innovation day.. lols.. saw a lots of booth and games on going.. AND FOODS!!! haha.. Ms Ho asked all of us to go down to eat.. haha.. Then, they have decided to go down and bring those food for all of us to eat in the office.. lols.. So they took 3 plate of mee siam, cakes, candy floss, pop corn, etc... haha.. seems that micro lab de people all very hungry.. =P so ps.. haha.. I am realli getting fatter. Everyday eat,eat and eat. especially for days when we didnt have alot of samples.. lols
